Doha, May 15 (QNA) - HE the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al-Thani has underlined that the Qatari-Brazilian relations have gone beyond the limits of bilateral partnership towards an initiative aimed to revitalize relations and to build a partnership between the Arab world and Latin America through the hosting of two summit meetings between the two sides; one in Brasilia and the second in Doha.
Meanwhile Chairman of the foreign markets in the Brazilian Development Bank Andre Carvalhalin reviewed in a session focusing on "investment," the said Bank’s role in providing funding for the Brazilians who carry out internal and external projects. He added that the bank had offered finance at the amount of US dollars. 137 million during the year 2009, and which headed mainly to the industrial sector and the infrastructure sector. He pointed out that the value of finance the Bank is to offer for the infrastructure investment during the period between 2010 and 2014 would amount to 111 billion US dollars, while the amount of funding allocated to the sectors of Oil and Gas stand at us dlrs.172 billion during the same period. For his part, Abdulaziz Al Othman, of Qatar Holding spoke to the session and dealt with Qatar Holding investments locally and abroad and efforts undertaken to enhance investment opportunities in South America in general and Brazil in particular through the signing of several memoranda of cooperation. In a related development Ahmed Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) noted in his address before the ''''tourism '''' session that cooperation between Qatar and Brazil is enhancing cooperation in the field of tourism pointing to the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two countries in the field of tourism which will help to develop tourism investments between Qatar and Brazil. Meanwhile Brazilian Minister of Tourism, Luiz Barreto pointed out that his country is seeking to develop the tourism sector in light of the strong growth of the Brazilian economy, which is expected to grow by 6 % in the year adding that the tourism sector is expected to witness 14 % growth rate. Tourism Minister Luiz Barreto referred that his country occupies the 5th rank in the world in terms of tourism, where the tourism investments are estimated at more than 3.4 billion dollars this year. He pointed to the operation of about 57 million departures last year, and more than 900 flights per week flying to all continents. Luiz Barreto reported that direct flights between Qatar and Brazil will strengthen cooperation between Qatar and Brazil and between them and the rest of South America in general. He noted that his country has many investment opportunities in the tourism sector, including 600 million dollars as investments in the hotel industry this year.(QNA)
