Athens, May 03 (QNA) –
A round of official talks commenced at Maximo Palace here on Monday between HE Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani and Greek counterpart George Papandreou. The two premiers discussed the bilateral ties and reviewed aspects of joint cooperation in various areas.
The talks were attended on the Qatari side, by Their Excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying HE the Prime Minister, while on the Greek side, they were attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Spyros Kouvelis , Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Ageliki Gerekou, Deputy Minister of infrastructure, transport and networks Nikolaos Sifounakis and Minister of Energy and environment Konstantina Birbili.
Following the talks, the two Prime Ministers also witnessed the signing of an air transport agreement and a number of Memoranda of Understanding.
The two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding (mou) for the Astakos project, an energy projecrt between the Qatari Ministry of Energy and Industry and the Greek Ministry Of Environment, Energy And Climate Change.
It was singed for Qatar by HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs and Industry Dr. Mohamad Saleh Al Sada and for Greece by Minister of environment, energy and climate change Konstantina Birbili.
HE Dr. Al Sada and Deputy Foreign Minister Spyros Kouvelis also signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the strategic cooperation between the two sides.
An agreement to introduce amendments to some provisions of the air transport between the governments of the two countries, Qatar and Greece,was also signed by HE Qatari Minister of State for International Cooperation Dr. Khalid bin Mohamad Al Attiyah who is also Acting Minister of Business and Trade while it was signed for Greece by Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks Nikolaos Sifounakis.
Another Memorandum of Understanding (mou) on tourism cooperation between the Qatari and Greek Governments was also singed for the Qatari side by HE Chairman of Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) Ahmed Abdullah Al Nuaimi and for the Greek side by Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Ageliki Gerekou.
The two sides singed as well a news exchange contract between Athens News Agency/Macedonia Press Agency/ and Qatar News Agency (QNA) and it was signed for the Qatari side by HE Chief Executive of Qatar Media Corporation and General Director of Qatar News Agency Sheikh Jabor bin Youssef bin Jassim Al Thani while it was signed for Greek side by Chief Editor Nikolaos Voulelis.(QNA)
