Qatar Participates in Biggest Tourism Exhibition in Europe "ITB"

Berlin, March 10 (QNA) -

Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) participates in the International Tourism Bourse (ITB) Berlin, the biggest European travel trade show, held from March 10 to March 14. QTA is accompanied by many of the major hotels and top destination management companies in Qatar, showcasing Qatar as a premier business and upscale leisure destination. Qatar Tourism Authority comes to Berlin following a successful 5-city promotional Roadshow through Europe, where QTA and its delegation from the hospitality, culture, sports and leisure sectors met with business and incentive travel professionals promoting business tourism, incentive travel and stopover travel in Qatar. The cities on the tour included Madrid, London, Paris, Milan and Munich. Chairman of Qatar Tourism Authority Ahmed Al Nuaimi, said: "This Roadshow was an initiative we launched to complement our participation at the international travel exhibitions by specifically targeting professionals in the MICE industry. The tour was very successful – we built new relationships and strengthened existing ones in these cities, which are important markets for Qatar." In addition to the trade meetings, Al Nuaimi held bi-lateral meetings with tourism officials from each country on the Roadshow to discuss tourism cooperation and promotion opportunities. At ITB Berlin, Qatar Tourism Authority will showcase Qatar’s new developments in the sector. Qatar’s tourism industry has expanded significantly over the last year with the opening of many new hotels as well as the addition of many events on the cultural and sports calendar. The next 12 months will continue the trend with many more hotels coming to the market and more events added to the calendar as well as the opening of the Cultural Village and the New Doha International Airport. "Qatar is preparing for a robust economic future, and tourism will play an important role in creating a diverse and sustainable economy," said Al Nuiami. "This rapid development in Qatar’s tourism industry and infrastructure will only solidify Qatar’s position as an upcoming business destination in the Middle East. More attractions, more hotels, easier transit – these developments will make Qatar a popular unique destination to business travelers from Germany and from around Europe." QTA promotes Qatar to the important European market by focusing on buyers from Meetings, Incentive, Conferences and Exhibitions and leisure sectors, among them conference and exhibitions organizers, incentive travel organizers and business travelers. Staged annually in Berlin, the International Tourism Bourse is a five day business to business event presenting a diverse range of destinations, products and services from 4,000 suppliers representing over 160 countries. The event is a unique opportunity for the travel trade to meet, network, negotiate and conduct business at one venue. General public is granted access during the weekend to this very popular exhibition.
