Qatar Tourism Authority’s European Promotional Campaign Concludes
Munich, March 09 (QNA) –
 
Amid signs of fruitful and outstanding success, the European promotional campaign for tourism in Qatar came to conclusion here last night which Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) achieved over the past 13 days in five European main cities, namely Madrid, London, Paris, Milan and Munich. The closing ceremony of such a campaign held at The Westin Grand Munich Hotel has brought together intensive attendance of experts, specialists and Germans interested in tourism sector, business, conferences, travel agencies, culture, sports and other related authorities together with other media men. During his meeting with the German side, Ahmed Abdullah Al Nuaimi, the chairman of Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), explained to them the various tourism attractions Qatar has enjoyed and that interest the foreign businessmen and tourists. Al Nuaimi reviewed Qatar’s various tourist attractions and tourism infrastructure including excellent hotels, sports facilities, conferences centre, various sports , sports, educational and health facilities along with an advanced roads grid that would make it an international tourist destination. He also briefed the attendees on the different areas and sectors of tourism, including business and conferences tourism, health, education, sports, exhibitions as well as entertainment facilities. In this context, Al-Nuaimi pointed out that the QTA is keen to extend the stay of businessmen in Qatar for an extra 48 hours to explore the country and get acquainted with its several progress features especially in business and tourism areas. The goal of this campaign is to promote the image of Qatar as a travel destination, he added. In a statement to Qatar news agency , Al Nuaimi voiced complete satisfaction at the good and positive results of such a promotional campaign for tourism in Qatar ” We have to wait and not to expect results so soon since we are establishing for a tourism infrastructure that needs time and awareness”
Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) launched here last night the second phase of its promotional campaign in a number of European countries. The QTA Chairman highly hailed the role played by Qatar’s Embassies abroad for their close cooperation with the QTA for the promotional campaign and said,''we do not expect results in a short period, we are talking about a plan that could reach for a period of three to five years''. Al-Nuaimi said that all companies, travel agencies and tourism offices, which met with the concerned officials and participants in the campaign, have shown interest in setting up several activities in Qatar, such as holding conferences and tourists’ activities in Qatar. He stressed that all these positive results will stimulate and encourage work, especially as Qatar has become a prominent destination and now enjoying an outstanding position as far as global tourism promotion and marketing campaign is concerned. A set of memoranda of understanding was signed between each of Qatar and the aforesaid European capitals and cities which reflect the joint desire of Qatar and these parties for further bolstering bilateral relations and enhancing joint cooperation in tourism sector based on the exchange of joint interests. According to the MOUs , both Qatar and these parties are to seek to create adequate circumstances to establish a long-term tourism cooperation for joint interests as per the laws , systems and policies effective in each country in tourism planning and development through the exchange of expertise , publications, data and statistics plus cooperating in tourism marketing and promotion via the exchange of propaganda and advertising programs and materials and tourist films and products available in both countries and marketing them via all media organs . The MoU’s make it imperative on Qatar and these concerned parties to call upon their respective nationals and residents to spend their holidays, vacations and organize tourist travels and tourist youth camps in the other country to encourage and flourish tourism industry between them.
The State of Qatar is attentively interested in the external tourism attraction sector since it witnessed grand and qualitative leaps in the infrastructure field which in turn tenders great services to tourism and described such a policy Qatar is adopting in this concern as wise. Such an effort represented in the European campaign for tourism promotion in Qatar would culminate by a joint coordination with all parties concerned including in the first place Qatar’s Embassies abroad as being the gate through which any relative action passes and considered the promotion campaign as good and thanked those involved for their efforts. After such a successful promotional campaign, the QTA will then proceed to Berlin to take part in the International Tourism Exchange Fair in Berlin (ITP) due to open there later today, said Al Nuaimi. Al-Nuaimi further said that H.E. Qatar’s Ambassador to Federal Republic of Germany Abdulrahman Mohamed Al Khuloilfi is scheduled to meet the Qatari mission in the German Capital, Berlin during the fair. Elaborating the QTA Chairman said that the QTA participated last year in the International Tourism Exchange in Asia. Speaking about such an Asian promotional campaign, Al-Nuaimi said it will take place next October and include Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong and Seoul following which the QTA will participate in the ITB in Singapore. After such a successful campaign by all standards, the QTA will later take part in International Tourism Bourse in Berlin (ITB) which is a global event attracting all tourism makers or industrialists from the world over.
The QTA through such a tourism promotional campaign is aiming at extending the stay of businessmen in Qatar for an extra 48 hours to explore the country and get acquainted with its several progress features especially in business and tourism areas. The participants involved in the campaign stressed in statements to Qatar News Agency (QNA) the importance of such a tourism promotional campaign especially as Qatar has become a tourist attraction for business and conferences and possesses tourist promotional potentials thanks to the available good infrastructure facilities including hotels, strong economy, media prominence and a good reputation on all regional and international levels. About 15 concerned parties in the State of Qatar representing governmental authorities ,institutions and companies plus some travel and tourism offices and agencies are to participate in this promotional campaign which is slated to organized later in Asia and America .Such a promotional campaign released by the Qatar Tourism Authority is called /European Road Show/.
The QTA first launched its tourism promotional campaign in Madrid on February 25.
