Qatar’s Luxury and Business Travel Credentials Lauded

QTA wraps up highly successful year with attendance at two key travel shows

DOHA DECMEBER 5 2011: Qatar’s growing status as a luxury travel destination and a hub for business travel is being recognized at two of the travel industry most sought after trade shows.

The Qatar Tourism Authority is leading two high profile delegations to the International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) in Cannes, France (December 5 to 8) and the Exhibition for incentive, Travel and Meetings (EIBTM) in Barcelona, Spain (November 29 to December 1).

Both events, held back-to-back are key gatherings of industry professionals and decision makers. QTA’s stands at both events have proved extremely popular with agents and buyers.

EIBTM brings together all the major players from the global meetings and incentive industry and is one of the biggest and best-attended exhibitions on the annual Meetings, Incentives, Exhibitions and conferences (MICE) calendar.

Partnering QTA on the stand at the three-day event were officials from the W Doha, Regency Travel, Sharq Village and Spa, the Diplomatic Club and The Ritz Carlton Doha.
Meanwhile, ILTM is the leading “by invitation only” luxury travel event in the world. This year the QTA hosted the “VIP Buyers Lounge” as well as meeting with highly influential buyers, agents and other travel professionals.
The QTA’s stand hosted some of Qatar’s biggest names in hospitality including Worldwide Tours, Retaj Hotels, Renaissance, SwissBel Doha, Gulf Adventures, Doha Marriott, Q Media Events, Moevenpick Towers and Suites, the Qatar National Convention Centre, W Doha and the Diplomatic Club.
QTA Chairman Mr. Ahmed Al Nuaimi said the two consecutive European events rounded off a highly successful year for Qatar’s tourism industry.
“The year 2011 has been a landmark one for Qatar’s hospitality industry and these two events have been an amazing opportunity to showcase the growth of the nation,” Mr. Al Nuaimi said. “We have seen not only a host of new hotels opening but also the landmark Qatar National Convention Centre as well as successfully hosting a range of high profile world leading events.
“In 2012 we hope to build on this success, bring more high end luxury and business travellers to Qatar as well as continue to prove that we are a detination of choice for large scale events.”
