Qatar Tourism Authority Chairman meets Argentinian Tourism Minister at Arabian Travel Market Exhibition in Dubai
Doha – Qatar, May 3rd, 2011: ATM, the travel and tourism event in the Middle East connects industry professionals with stakeholders and consumers, promoting the region for both business and leisure travel opportunities to the world. The QTA and its delegation are to meet with trade professionals over the next four days at this exhibition with the intent to form new business relationships and commercial partnerships meant to promote Qatar on the international and regional stage and to attract new business and leisure travellers to Qatar.
During the event, Qatar Tourism Authority’s Chairman, Ahmed Al-Nuaimi, met with His Excellency Carlos Enrique Meyer, Minister of Tourism, Argentina and Argentina Ambassador to Dubai, His Excellency Ruben Eduardo Caro at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) Exhibition today in Dubai.
During the meeting, they discussed details regarding the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Qatar and Argentina as well the opportunities to exchange tourists and attending of travel and tourism events at each other’s respective countries.
Following the meeting between Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser and Argentinian President, Cristina Kirchner in January of this year, Qatar and Argentina are working together to further collaborate in the interests of economic, business and tourism opportunities between the two countries.
“We are very keen to further build on our relationship with Argentina and to develop greater opportunities between the two countries to enhance our business, economic and tourism markets across the two nations.” said Ahmed Al-Nuaimi, Chairman, Qatar Tourism Authority.
“We not only see opportunities for significant partnerships between the two countries, but also share similar goals and objectives in further developing our nations in support of each other” he added.
Known for being a premiere business destination, Qatar has now also expanded its exposure locally and internationally with significant investments in other sectors including culture, education, sport and leisure. This includes hosting of many large international sporting events such as the Asian Games 2006, Qatar Masters - Golf Tournament, Qatar Open Tennis Championship, Asian Football Cup 2011 Qatar and has a proven capacity and commitment for organizing such events.
What makes Qatar so unique is the care and diligence with which the government has enriched Qatar culturally. A number of events and attractions such as the Museum of Islamic Arts, Mathaf - the recently opened Museum of Modern Art, Qatar’s annual Marine Festival, Doha Tribeca Film Festival, and Katara - The Cultural Village - all have contributed to placing Qatar firmly on the cultural scene.
This year, Qatar will witness the opening of the National Convention Center at Education City as well as another 35 hotels and hotel apartments with a total of 6,369 rooms and units., all set to cater for the large demand of MICE events coming to Qatar including the World Petroleum Congress.
QTA is accompanied at ATM by a distinguished delegation from the hospitality, culture, sports and leisure sectors in Qatar, including representatives from the Ministry of Culture, Qatar Marine Festival Committee, Museum of Islamic Art, and Cultural Village.
Also exhibiting with Qatar Tourism Authority are major hotels and top destination management companies including Movenpick Tower and Suites Hotel, Sheraton Doha Resort and Convention Hotel, Mellinnium Hotel Doha, Ramada Plaza Doha, Holiday Villa Hotel & Residence City Center, Doha Marriott Hotel, Renaissance Doha City Center Hotel, La Cigale Hotel, Sharq Village & Spa, and The Ritz Carlton Hotel. As a result of its commitment to embrace the MICE and Business sector, Qatar was awarded as the Middle East’s Leading Business Destination at the World Travel Awards Ceremony last night in Dubai at Armani Hotel , the event host., This award was received by Mr Ahmed Al Darwish, International Relations Specialist, on behalf of Qatar Tourism Authority.
QTA are also the sponsors of this year’s Travel Agency Day at ATM on Thursday May 5th. As part of this, they will be meeting with the large number of travel agencies attending ATM to further gain their support and commitment in promoting Qatar abroad. QTA will also award 16 travel agencies with prizes on the day including weekend stays and trips to Qatar.
