Qatar Motor Show attracts thousands of visitors

Exhibitors and visitors alike look forward to next year’s show

January 29, 2011, Doha –Officials reveal that number of visitors at the First International Edition of the Qatar Motor Show, surpassed the organizers’ expectations. The four-day exhibition, which took place at the Doha Exhibitions Center recorded a huge number of visitors who came to check out the latest and most exclusive sports, luxury and SUV models from 36 major car brands at the exhibition.
The exhibition, which has attracted over 80,000 visitors, was organized by Qatar Tourism Authority in partnership with q.media events and GL Events, held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabr Al Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
“The Qatar Motor Show has proved an extremely good event and Qatar has made a great decision in hosting it. The feedback that the show has received is very positive and we as organizers are more than satisfied with the outcome. That is why hopefully this exhibition is the starting point of more exhibitions to come, and we look forward to making this exhibition an annual one, bringing with it more and more surprises,” an official from the organizing committee said.
This show has not only attracted the local automobile-lovers but a big audience from the region as well as international visitors who came to check out this one-of a kind exhibition. It has been an interest for those who are in the automotive industry, adventure-lovers and for all the fans who appreciate luxury, exclusivity and outstanding surprises.
Over 55 exhibitors including car accessory companies and more participated in this exhibition displaying over 135 car models, ranging from sports, luxury, mid-range, and concept cars.
“The number of people and car enthusiasts who attended the exhibition exceeded our expectations for the motor show. Any success of an event is measured by the number of visitors who attend the show, and for this one I have to say we as exhibitors are more than pleased,” said Ahed Dawood, Brand Manager, Porsche Centre in Doha.
“The president and CEO of Porsche in Germany, came all the way here to participate in the First International Edition of the Qatar Motor Show, which turned out to be very impressive,” he added.
“We are hoping that we continue to participate in this motor show in the future, if it became an annual one. That is, if the manufacturer confirms his attendance we are definitely participating in this event.
“Also I would like to say that this exhibition adds a great value to the country and to the exhibitors, and after seeing the huge turn up in the number of visitors, I do hope that they extend the length of the exhibition making it more than four days,” Dawood added.
The show have more than fulfilled the expectations and ambitions of the visitors, hence they were more than satisfied with what they have come all the way to attend, as in the case of Gabreille who said, “I came all the way from Italy specifically to attend the show and to be honest, I am quite impressed with what was on display and how the whole exhibition was pulled together. I have to say I think a lot of effort was put into this show.”
While Amer Majzoub from Qatar said, “I have heard and read about the show from the newspapers and ads, and I was more than excited about it, but to be honest in the beginning I thought it would be just like any ordinary motor show. However, after this experience I do not think any motor show in the region will outshine this one.”
These views were also echoed also by those who attended the outdoor show of the exhibition, which offered lots of thrilling and adrenalin-packed activities from drifting, FMX motocross and test-driving as well as riding rally cars with the Lebanese rally champion and Middle East Hill Climb champion and Red Bull Athlete Abdo Feghali.
“It was such a thrilling and exciting experience, the exhibition really offered what they promised from all kind of activities. It was a pleasurable experience and I do hope that this event becomes an annual one,” said Mohammad Issa.
The well-organized event is a very important event not only for Qatar but for the Middle East. Hence, by hosting the First Middle East Automotive Summit, which brought together the elites of the automotive industry under one umbrella to discuss, debate and provide solutions to the challenges that the industry is facing, along with the motors show, is in itself a pioneer achievement for the region.
When asked about their feedback on their personal experience in participating in this event, many exhibitors have confirmed their participation and commitment to next year’s edition, and have reserved prime space for next year’s event. Hence, according to the organizers and exhibitors the show was a massive success for them, receiving a lot of positive feedback from the local and international media and audience.
