Qatar Host Nation Asian Cup 2011
Qatar and its sports-loving denizens have proved many times over that size is no obstacle to hosting successful and mega sports events. Recent proof came in the form of the incredibly successful 2006 Asian Games which capped a series of world championships in every sport imaginable.
Sixteen teams will contest the final rounds of the AFC Asian Cup 2011, which will be hosted by Qatar.
The final competition will see 10 countries becoming eligible through a qualifying competition which runs through January 2009 to March 2010.
